Toyota supra is a lot better race car than a mustang.

Supra what? When your racing Basicly a stock stang you’ll win. Try racing a turbo Charged v8 stang.

In response to noodle.Lets see, the supra has a 3 liter 6 cylinder engine with 2 turbos. The mustang has a 5.8 liter v8 engine. Do you actually believe that the 5.8 liter engine with the same 2 turbos will have less output than the 3 liter engine? Not in this universe.

The stock Mustangs from 1996 till present came with a 4.6 Liter 295 horspower engine. While the Supra from 1993 to 1998 had a 3.0 Liter twin turbo 320 horsepower engine. So if we are talking about stock vehicles than the supra has the better chance, not only because of the horsepower, because of the aerodynamics. The gear ratio also comes into play. Dont get me wromg, you can make a Mustang just as fast. But they were not made for the same thing. So basicly what im saying is you are comparing apples to oranges.

first off the 96 to present cars didn’t have 295hp the 99-04 gt’s had 260 the 99 and 01 cobra’s had 320 the 03-04 mach 1’s had and underrated 305 and the 03-04 cobra’s had an underrated 390. Finaly the 05 and up gt’s have 300hp with the gt500 sporting 500hp So to answer your question a supra would beat the 99-04 gt would be very even with the mach 1,99-01 cobra and 05 and up gt’s. However the 03-04 cobra and GT500 would kill a supra.

I mean stock for stock here the 03-04 Cobra’s and the GT500 run 12’s right off the show room floor while the supra runs mid to high 13’s

sure, if you think imports are somewhat fast, it’s because of the turbo/twin turbo & with it, any car would be fast. Imagine my 99gt with twin turbo Vs an import with twin turbo, you do the math. & yes camaro’s & Firebird’s are faster than some mustangs, but we dont mind cause we know they dont need turbo systems or nitrous to stuggle to keep up. I am the proud owner of a 04 Cobra Mustang I have crushed 3 Toyota Supras in street races and a bunch of other tuners, all this in stock trim. I recently replaced the stock Eaton Blower with a Kenny Bell Blower and NOS making about 700hp so I say bring on your tuners.

What are you an idiot Mach1’s can run low 13’s even 12’s stock and the SC cobra’s can run in the mid 12’s even the 05 and newer GT’s can run mid to low 13’s find me a stock supra that can run that your lucky to pull a 13.5 in perfect track conditions with a stock supra.

supras are awsome. But to bad that mustang’s total build cost was probably less then just the supras cost. Besides last time i checked, Fastest DOT legal tire car in the nation was a mustang (turbo)…

2003 5-speed mach1- 0-60= 4.7, 1/4mile= 13.2 (MT)
1997 Supra TT 6-speed- 0-60= 5.2 1/4mile= 13.6

the mustang has a 351W (windsor) engine. This engine did come in some mustangs. Windsor was the plant the engines where produced @. They arent really that fast. A stock TT surpa now goes for $40k, you can buy a 10 second mustang for $15k or a 600whp one for $10-15k ….. There is always something faster….. I like mustangs and i like supras. It doesnt matter. Still, the fastest street legal car in america is a turbo mustang…..

umm last time i checked fords were governed using a restricter plate that wont let them acheive speeds of over 170km/h.at least its that way in canada.now supras are pure un governed muscle,the mustang might hook a supra in the 1/4,BUT!!! on the mile the mustang has no chance my 87mkIII’s speedo goes up to 280 i bury the needle an im still climbin.u mustang guys are jus tryin to make up 4 a lack of some thin else,get some balls and get a supra

Think about it both Mustangs and SUPRAS are fast but think about the digits you can make with a supra, you can hit more than 1000, now the question is ca n you do that with a stang(doubt it) when has anyone seen a mustang with 1000 bhp. think about that!

Toyota supras are a good match up for a mustang.I love mustang to heart, but it all depends on the driver.If the driver know his mustang and gear configurations the mustang will pull off ahed of the supra and the supra will not catch it. A 1999 Cobra SVT v8 w/ram air scoop dual 4″ exhuast(borla)fiberglass hood,trunk,bumbers;turbo and headers put out a whopping 890hp, and 1200bhb, clearly beat the supra puting out 680hp 990bhb by 4 car lengths. lets just say, my uncle knew his stang. by the way the supra had and used his nos, but could not catch him!!!!

When it comes down to it, the mk4 supra is better than any stang. Stock vs stock, the supra owns the mustang hands down. Of course anyone can say “well if the mustang had this or if it had that to make it faster” DUH!!! it would win. lol thats like saying if the mustang was faster it would win. but again, stock vs stock the supra makes the gay stang sit down.

A toyota supra is better by far, stock vs stock the supra will smpoke it, it dont matter what happens what the mustang has, if u get a supra with a twin tubo you can drop a supercharge, and a dual exhaust with an air intake. like that it dont matter what your mustang has even the mustang boss v10 2001 witch is the must gangsters stang i had seen, cant stand a chance what so ever not even if you drop a twin turbo super charge and drop a 6 speed manual transmition, must supras come 5-6 speed stock you can rev the supra all the time n not worry about reving out the car, stang r to sensitive breack to easy, cant rev it to 6 rpm’s and weast allot more gas but for the price of the supra u can get two brand new mustang vs a 93 supra, and hats a shame and for next year they comming out with a new supru with a v8 engine, for sure now the supra will defenetly smoke the stang with a 5 second head star and i can guarranty it, and lets not talk in the curbs, drifts, all you got to do its the math its a 6c less weigth + more hourse power vs V8 + more weigth less hourse power= weaigth over power that would make the 6 cylinder out burn the V8 like nothing, and if u drop a twin turbo supercharge on a mustang let me know where to get cuz there non unless custum made which it woul not be save cuz you can blow out the engine, you will need to drop ,also a 6 spedd manual transmition, regarles thats not good for a mustang because thats not ment for a mustang. Supras come with all that, if not you can up grade. Japanise cars are more gas efficient, faster, and more comsterble than any american muscle sports cupe car, and something about American Cars is Chevy Impala SS With a 454 block engine is the best stock american muscle car that will smoke any stang and its bigger and better looks and you can fit more hoes that a stang, Ford sucks , Cheby its alot better than any ford, chevy camaro, firebird.

ofcourse if you mod your car is going to be better, but you can never have a civic si have 1000 ho is usa, unlike the supra su can have 1000 on your supra. u can be faster than a stock supra but not a stock tune supra. ur the one that don’t know crap, an your civic is pretty fast to if you do you stuck tuning ut if you upgrade and dont do the tuning then anny supra with stock tunning cab burn your civis si.

What are people a talking about on here the mustang can only rev to 6,000 rpms that’s funny because my 03 Mach 1 redlines at 7,000 Grand. It also weighs less than a TT supra and gets better fuel economy and runs a few tenths fast in the 1/4.

Ok cut the shit A 99-04 Mustang gt does have aout 260hp at the rear wheels and 302 ft lbs of torque ITS NOT ABOUT HP IN A DRAG RACE IS THE TORQUE THAT LAUNCHES THE CAR so the more torque the power pull and speed a 302ft lbs torque against the supras 315 is not fair bid however that wasnt a stock supra either stock turbo supra dont sound that healthy and beefed yes when it comes to same mods the supra has a chance but until we try it we never know !!!

I Have had a roush 427R and the only thing ive done to it are added a cam heads and a bigger blow off valve for the supercharger it ran upper 11’s - mid 12’s out of the show room floor on 91 octane now its running low to mid 11’s on 91 and pushing 476hp and 482ft lbs torque if i were to add a bigger supercharger id have an easy low to mid 10’s car supra went out of production and mustang is running strong you pit a 1000hp roush against a 1000 hp supra the roush will win and besides its not just the car its the driver and how well timed the shifts are its always good to do 3 to 5 runs unless your just ass stomped on the first too how ever ive raced everything from twin turbo preludes to mustang gt’s to 04 kb Cobra’s porsche corvettes a roush 427 out of the factory will keep up with a new 07 corvette not a z06 but a regular 400hp so either way but stock vs stock 97 vs 97 supra vs mustang the supra wins 97 vs 07 the mustang kills it stock even if it has some mods even tho it took 10 years amercan cars are about Power and style in japan the supra was a super car at around 42,000+ i paid that much for my Roush and its far froma super car!!! supra is a japanese super car while mustang is a MIDDLE AMERICANS SPORTS CAR theres a difference!

I see a lot of people talking about stock vs. stock.

Well, there are different levels of stock. You have a stock Mustang GT that puts out 300HP. Then the next level up is the Mustang COBRA or the Mustang COBRA-R. The Supra happens to fall into a dangerous class of cars when talking about newer model vehicles. With the Supras 320hp it lands in comp with the COBRAS. Which is remarkable indeed. But as far as how it stands up against that kind of competition AT A STOCK LEVEL is not so great..lol.

Modern vehicles have put the Supra back up on the shelf to be remodelled and revammped, yet again.

For the price range though, I would NEVER buy a foreign 6 Cyl. car that costs 40-60thousand dollars. I don’t care how fast it goes with 80thou EXTRA under the hood.

The supra is in NO WAY cost effective. It’s actually a waste. Ineffecient.

2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR (comes STOCK with 540WHP) vs. The latest and greatest PRODUCTION SUPRA. (meaning, no aftermarket parts on it)
