Glad to see there are some GTR and Porsche fans out there. But it's time to clear things up on both cars. The Skyline is actually putting out about 320 ps the 280 ps you see on the video is an agreement between the Japanese government and car manufacturers in Japan as to what horse power cars will be electonically limited when coming from the factory (not a tuner shop). The stock Skyline R34 would never beat a stock 996 Turbo putting out 420 ps in a straight line race. These cars have raced each other in stock form on the Motegi Track in Japan. But the skyline never was able to pass the 996 turbo.
The Nissan skyline isn't as to what many may believe a fulltime all wheel drive car like Porsche 996 Turbo, Subaru or Evo's. It's drive train is more like a VT set up like Lamborghini's Diablo VT. As for (Rep) the porsche has a higher rep than the skyline. Its been around before the skyline was ever thoutht of. In my opinion if you want to see how good your car is then put it in the Lemans race. The skyline has not participated in one Lemans race to date. The car is a good car when properly tuned by tuners such as Mine's (Japan Tuner). The R34 was imported to Europe where Nissan found out that the car couldn't deal being driven at high speeds on the Autobahn because of oil cooling problems. However that was resolved with an additional oil cooler. Now I know some one is going to bitch about what I wrote but hey....I've lived in Setagaya, Tokyo for 8 years. So I thinks I know what I am talking about when it comes to the skyline......as for the 996 turbo.......over in Japan the price for one of these cars is the sticker price + import tax (which I call the your are being fined because you didn't buy a Japanese car tax). Over all a R34 can run around 50 to 60k (U.S.) in Japan but the 996 Turbo your looking at about 150 to 170k (U.S.). You do not see a lot of 996 Turbo's or 911 Turbo's in Japan.....not many people have that type of money to buy and maintain them.......only a select few. I'm a fan of the R33 and the old 911 turbo and respect there accomplishments.
